Good Advice, Josh! I try to only answer non-urgent e-mails at certain times of the day, just to keep myself organized and prevent myself from being interrupted.
Also you brought up an excellent point that sometimes things should be emails, but sometimes they should be phone calls. Some things are simply more conveniently settled when you can actually talk to someone.
